Nelson, opposite the Carolina Central Depot, at Shelby, was totally destroyed by fire. The blaze originated in a small store room belonging to Mr. Nelson and adjacent to the main building. The house was a roomy, two-story, frame building, and was conducted as a railroad hotel and boarding house by Mr. Nelson. Some of the furniture was saved. The house was insured for $800; the furniture for $200.
