A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late John and Ella Griffin Dyer. He was a retired carpenter, a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. Surviving are a brother, Sam Dyer of Shelby; and four sisters, Leola Hoyle, Corene Bridges, Ollie Mae Walker and Lula Turner of Shelby. Services will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 pm at Lutz-Austell Chapel by the Rev. B.L.Queen. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive freinds from 7:30 to 8:30 tonight at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home. This was in the paper Sept 28, 1985.
