To the Honorable the General
ASsembly of no Carolina
   The Petition of John GriSsett of Columbus County humbly shew That he has an 
illegitimate Child by the name of Mary Ann Conway and with whose mother, your
Petitioner has since intermarried 
   He therefore prays your Honorable Body to paSs a Law altering the name of the 
said Mary Ann Conway to that of Mary Ann GriSsett, and that she be made capable 
of inheriting & enjoying by devise or descent in the same manner to all intents 
and purposes as if she had been born in actual wedlock; and he as in duty bound 
will ever pray &c
