Chdbourn Times:
One day last week Josephine Harden, who is accused of being the mother of the child

which was found in the well near Cerro Gordo, was found near the South Carolina 
line and was carried to Whiteville and placed in jail.  She is clear skin, and were

it not for her down cast look would be pretty.  She own she was the mother of the 
chid, but say she was unconscious when the child was carried off, and therefore she

does not know who carried it off, or anything about it.  It is all too thin.  She 
had a hearing on Monday and gave bond in the sum of $200 for her appearance at the 
next term of the Superior Court.
