Hall of New Hanover County half interest in the above tracts. The purchase price paid by John W. Hall was four thousand and five hundred dollars. Columbus County Deed Book N, page 513, deed dated 11 Feb 1861. The town of Hallsboro sits on the tracts of land described above. The town of Hallsboro in Columbus County was named for John William Hall. Both Thomas James Armstrong and John William Hall were born in Duplin County, NC. The spouse of John William Hall was Margaret Sloan Sheffield, a cousin of Thomas James Armstrong.
