George W. Flinn [Flynn] was born in New Hanover County on September 9, 1837. Resided in Columbus County where he was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting in Columbus County on April 25, 1862, for the war. Present or acounted for until he was injured when he fell form a train on the Northeastern Railroad (between Charleston and Florence, South Carolina) on July 14, 1863. Left leg and right arm "badly broken." Hospitalized at Charleston. Retired from service on January 10, 1865, by reason of disability.
