Sat. Aug. 29, 1857, North Carolina Argus August 29, 1857
   A man by the name of JAMES R. DUNCAN was arrested in Whiteville, Columbus 
County, recently on a charge of forgery. Our correspondent says that DUNCAN 
forged the names of MESSRS. PEACOCK and SASSER, to several due blls and traded 
the same -- amounts not known. He was arrested and committed for want of bail 
to await trial at the Fall Term of Superior Court.
