  In Columbus county, N. C., at Lennon’s Cross
Roads Mrs. HARRIET BRITT, wife of Monalcha
Britt.  The deceased was born in Robeson county,
N. C., on the 23rd of April 1848, and died on the
14th of August 1874.  Over one year ago, she be-
came afflicted with the dreadful disease consump-
tion, it was her lot to suffer much during the last
of her affliction, but notwithstanding her suffering
she murmured not, but she is gone from suffering
and sorrows to the reward of the just.  Mrs. Britt
left a husband and two small sons, as well as many
good friends to mourn her loss.  She was a mem-
ber of the Baptist church, and died with a full hope
of reaping the reward of the righteous.  She was
a devoted wife, a fond and affectionate mother
and worthy Christian.  May husband children and
friends prepare to meet her where parting is no
