E.A. Britt, Former Robeson Boy, Dies 

WHITEVILLE – Eldridge Andrew Britt, 10, Columbus County blue boy, died in the 
Columbus County hospital Saturday at 10:30 o’clock after a 10-days’ stay 
there. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman E. Britt, he lived with his parents on a 
farm in the Long Branch community prior to about two years ago, when the 
family moved to Columbus county. He formerly attended the Long Branch school.  
He was taken to Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore in November but was not 
able to undergo treatment. A special fund was made by Columbus County citizens 
for his trip and possible treatment. Some money was also raised in Robeson 
with Mrs. Maud Baldwin in charge, for his treatment.
 
Funeral services were held from the Corinth Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 
4:30 o’clock, with Rev. Charlie Brisson officiating. Interment was in the 
Green Lawn Memorial cemetery.

Besides his parents, he is survived by one brother, Donald Ray; and a sister, 
Linda Rebecca, all of Chadburn
