J.A. BARKER PASSES – FUNERAL SERVICES IN WHITEVILLE THIS AFTERNOON FOR MRS. LUCY LEWIS Mrs. Lucy Lewis, widow of the late Mr. D.J. Lewis, died at her home in Whiteville at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after a lingering illness. She was 57 years old. Deceased was a half-sister of Mr. J.A. Barker of Lumberton. Funeral services will be conducted from the home in Whiteville at 3 p.m. this afternoon. Surviving are 8 children - Messrs. R.M. Julian D., Gordon and Rene Lewis and Miss Etta Lewis of Whiteville, Mrs. W.H. Richardson of Raleigh, Miss Bess Lewis, who is teaching at Sanford, Mrs. Madge Carrington of Hickory; one sister – Mrs. Lizzie Formy-Duval of Whiteville; one whole brother – Mr. Bruce Howell of Charlotte; 3 half-brothers – Mr. James Howell of Wilmington, Mr. J.A. Barker of Lumberton and Mr. Winfield Barker of Waycross, Ga.; one half-sister – Mrs. Hattie McCormick of Sanford.
