The Morning Star, Wilmington, NC –  Tues 6/13/1893
Columbus Star:    Rev. David J.
Ray died at his home at Smith’s Cross-
ing Bogue township, on Monday June
5th.  He had been in bad health for
some time, and was confined to his bed
for a month or more.  Mr. Ray was
nearly seventy-eight years old, and had
been preaching for about fifty years.  He
was a Missionary Baptist.
