WILLIAMSON.---Died very suddenly near Cerro Gordo, Columbus county, N. C., Bro. 
Nathan L. Williamson, aged 74 years.  Our friend and brother professed faith in 
the Lord Jesus Christ fifty years ago and but a few days before his death in 
talking to a near relative in regard to his spiritual condition remarked: “I 
feel that all my sins are now forgiven and that I am ready to see God’s face and 
live.” Bro. Williamson was a member of Macedonia Baptist church in the Cape Fear 
Association and was noted for his charity and good will towards the poor and 
distressed who have lost in him a friend and benefactor, Bro. Williamson during 
his live has been the recipient of many honors at the hands of his fellow 
citizens.  He was a member of the House of Representatives at the breaking out 
of the great civil war and guarded well the lights of his constituents. Bro. 
Williamson raised up a large and, influentail family of children.  He lost two 
sons in the late war, one being killed at the terrible battle of Gettysburg and 
the other died in prison at Point Lookout, Md.  He leaves nine children to mourn 
their loss, and among this number is the Hon. H. D. Williamson, Senator elect 
from Columbus county, N. C., to the next Legislature.  The funeral services of 
Bro. Williamson were conducted by Rev. J. A. Smith, of Fair Bluff, in the 
presence of a great company of earnest listeners and warm sympathizing friends.  
“Write blessed are the death which die in the Lord from henceforth! yea saith 
the Spirit that they may rest from their labors and their works do follow them,”
