Byrd being sworn oath say that Vaughan Byrd late of the said county is dead without leaving any last will and testament and that this off(?) is the proper person entitled to letters of administration. Further that the value of said estate so far as can he ascertain on the date this application is about $400 adn that this off(?), C.B. Huffham, E.J. Elwell and H.J. Byrd, Martha J Creech and Rebecca V Taylor are the only heirs at law and distributes of the said estate and are of full age - that C.B. Huffham, Martha J Creech and E.J. Elwell are residents of Columbus County, this off(?) is a resident of Brunswick county and Rebecca V Taylor is a resident of Richmond County all of this state and H.J. Byrd is a resident of Wateree SC. _______ and _______ began on this 8th day of June 1895 L.A. Satisfactorily proven to the undersigned clerk of the Superior Court for Columbus County that Vaughan Byrd late of said county is dead without having made and published any last will and testament and is appearing that L.A. Byrd is entitled to the administration of the estate of the deceased and having qualified as administratsix according to law. Now these are therefor to empowered the said administratsix to enter in and upon all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the said deceased and the same to take into posession wheresoever to be found and all the just debts of the deceased to pay and satisify and the residence of said estate to distribute according to law. Byrd, administrator of Vaughan Byrd deceased showeth that is ___________ best subserve the interest of the heirs at law and creditors of the estate to sell the personal property of said estate for cash because the property would sell for about as much for cash and on credit of six months and because the majority of the bidders at said sale will be unable to give solvent bonds. Whereupon your petitioner prays for an order allowing him to sell its personal property for cash This 10th day of June 1895 L.A.
