Will written 11 Nov 1878 Witnesses: George McColskey, J. R. McColskey Executors: James R. McColskey and James K. Fields To wife Nancy Parker: 435 acres situated on north side of Cow Branch, including their mansion house, for her lifetime; all his personal property (cattle, horses, household goods, etc.) to use and enjoy during her lifetime and after her death to be sold and the proceeds equally divided between his lawful heirs. To son Everett Parker: the tract of land on which he now lives. To daughter Mary Jane Gaines and her husband Memory Gaines: the tract of land on which they now live. To daughter Nancy Ellen and her husband Benjamin Sutton: a tract of land adjoining the land of Suttons and others where Sutton now resides [Robeson County] To Elizabeth Delight Britt and her husband Kenneth Britt, and daughter Margaret Ann Stone and her husband John J. Stone: all the tract where James currently resides consisting of 435 acres, after the death of his wife Nancy and after they have paid $30 to each of the heirs of George W. Parker and Richard Parker - i.e., George French Parker, Susan Parker and Richard Florence Parker. ***** George McColskey and Jas R. McColskey presented James Parker’s last will and testament to the court on 7 Aug 1885 [this should probably be September, like the next entry issuing letters testamentary] and stated that he had died on 15 Aug 1885. Additional Comments: Benjamin Sutton's nephew, Henry Frank Sutton, would marry Kenneth and Elizabeth Britt's daughter, Prudence Anna Britt, in 1878 in Robeson County. They moved in the early 1890's to Wilcox County, Georgia.
