To grandson George Parker McColskey: all real estate after death of Rhoda Parker; black man Harry, black woman Ann, black boy George Prosper; household and kitchen furniture; implements of husbandry; smith tools and all other tools of every description; 10 head of cattle; 10 head of sheep; 70 head of hogs; 1 horse. To daughter Elizabeth McColskey: the residue of the estate forever. Executors: Nathan L. Williamson and George Parker McColskey Witnesses: Laban Williamson, James Parker Additional Comments: The will was proved in 1861 according to the NC wills testator index, but I wasn't able to easily find probate information in the microfilmed record; it's probably there and can be located with more thorough searching. It's probable that George Parker died prior to 1860 as Rhoda Parker was living alone in Columbus County in that census. The household recorded just before hers is the family of James Parker, whose will was proved in 1885 in Columbus and an abstract of which is here at the archives. I believe this is the same James who witnessed George Parker's will and that he was George Parker's son. The George and James R. McColskey who witnessed James Parker’s will were likely his nephew and great-nephew, respectively. Elizabeth Parker was married to James McColskey, whose will was probated in Columbus County c1870.
