D. 1831 Nancy Jerkins Dean, the adopted daughter of Alonzo T. Jerkins and his wife Sarah and John Durand Flanner were married on Thursday evening the sixteenth (16th) day of February A. D. 1854 by the Rev. Dr. William Hooper Thomas Jerkins and Grizzell Sears were married January 8th A. D. 1806 On the 22nd of February 1877 in Richmond, Virginia at the residence of Mrs. E. E. MacFardane by Rev. Dr. J. Z. Jeter, assisted by Rev. Mr. McDonald and Rev. Dr. Dickson, Susan C. Hooper, daughter of the late William Hooper of Richard and Alonzo T. Jerkins of North Carolina William H. Turrentine and Ella A. Rea were married at the residence of A. T. Jerkins at New Bern on Wednesday, the 25th of November A. D. 1868 by the Rev. A. D. Cohen Daniel Lane and Lavinia Rice were married at the residence of A. T. Jerkins at “Sunnyside” in Alamance County, Wednesday 12 Noon, February 1, 1871 by the Rev. T. J. D. 1866 Lewis Stringer McIlwean, son of Richard and Mary McIlwean was born August 30, 1807 Sarah Eliza, daughter of William H. and Ella A. Turrentine was born on Saturday, September 18 A. D. 1869 at 7:20 p.m. Imogen, daughter of William H. and Ella A. Turrentine was born on Sunday, December 10, A. D. 1871 at 12:50 a. m. Susan Carr Hooper, daughter of William Hooper and Susan B. his wife was born in Richmond, Virginia on the Fourteenth (14th) of March Anno Domini 1836 DEATHS Grizzell Jerkins, wife of Thomas Jerkins died on Friday, August 13, 1824 at 5: P. M. Thomas Jerkins, the husband of Grizzell Jerkins died on Friday December 21, A. D. 1855 5 P. M. aged 72 years 8 months 10 days John Durand Flanner, son of John D. and Nancy J. Flanner died on the 10th day of December A. D. 1866 Nancy Jerkins Flanner, the adopted daughter of Alonzo T. Jerkins and his wife, Sarah Jerkins and the beloved wife of John D. Flanner died on Friday the twentieth day of September A. D. 1867 at 5 ˝ p. m. Julia Eliza Sears McIlwean, the wife of Francis N. McIlwean and daughter of Thomas Jerkins and his wife Grizzell died at the residence of Cirero Green on the ___ dau of May 1877 age 68 years 2 month ___ days Sarah Jerkins the beloved and devoted wife of A. T. Jerkins departed this life at her residence at “Sunnyside” Alamance County, NC very suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday at five o’clock and thirty minutes in the afternoon (5:50 pm) She died without the least struggle or convulsion. Her devoted husband and Doctor John A. Moore were at her bedside when she died or was stuck by death. She died on Sunday at 5:30 p. m. September 13, 1874 age 65 years 1 month and 16 days. Her remains were taken to New Bern, N.C. on Tuesday the fifteenth and from the depot at New Bern to the Baptist Church of which she was a faithful, devoted and true member, from thence to the Cemetery and interred in the burial lot of hers and her husband. The grave was bricked up being made large enough to receive the remains of her devoted husband by her side which he hoped would be attended to by his friends whenever he is taken from this transitory and sinful world. Nancy Sear Mitchell, relict of Alexander Mitchell died at the residence of William F. Rountree in New Bern on Thursday the eighth day of September, A. D. 1881 at seven o’clock and thirty five minutes in the morning, aged seventy years ten months and twenty six days. Alonzo T. Jerkins died at his residence on Johnson Street, New Bern Susan Carr Jerkins, relict of Alonzo T. Jerkins, died at Ballsville, Va. (near Richmond) where she was teaching on Sunday A. M.
