Genl The juror for the state upon their oath present that WILLIAM ALDRIDGE late of the county of Lenoir within the district of New- bern aforesaid bricklayer not having the fear of God before his eyes,but being moved and seduced by the instigation of the Devil, on the twenty third day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety three and in the eightrinth year of the Independence of the State, with force and arms in the county of Lenoir within the district of Newbern aforesaid in and upon the body of one JESSE FARMER in the peace of God and the State then and there being feloniously wilfully and of his malice afore thought did make an assault and that the said WILLIAM ALDRIDGE with a certain knife of the value of sixpence which the said WILLIAM ALDRIDGE --? his right hand then and there had and held the said JESSE FARMER in and upon the left side of the belly near the groin of him the said JESSE FARMER then and there feloniously wilfully and of his malice aforethought did strike wound and thrust going to the said JESSE FARMER then and there with the knife aforesaid in and upon the afore- said left side of the belly near the groin of him the said JESSE FARMER.One mortal wound of the breadth of two inches and of the depth of two inches of which said mortal wound the said JESSE FARMER from the said twenty third day of December in the year aforesaid untill the twenty ninth day of the same month December in the same year in the same county of Lenoir aforesaid within the district of Newbern aforesaid did languish and languishing did live on which said twenty ninth day of December in the year aforesaid in the county of Lenoir aforesaid within the district aforesaid of the said mortal wound so then and there given as aforesaid died.
