Herritage her Attorney prays an order for Letters of administration on the Estate of Job Doehety her late husband dec'd which was granted and (torn) John (torn-several words missing). 1745 - Mary Doehety admx. of Job Dohety exhibited to the court an inventory of the goods & chattels of the sd Job Dohety as far forth as is come to her hands on oath and prayed an order for appraisement of sd estate. Ordered that Andrew Bass and Cornelus Lofton appraise the same and return their proceedings to the court. 1746 - Whereupon the Sheriff being called upon to return his pannel of Jurors returned the same out of which the following persons were chosen as Grand Jurors: Owen Daughity, others. ----- Craven County, NC County Court Minutes (Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions) 1749-1756 Book IV 1753 - Ordered that William Smith and Benajah Doty be appointed Patrollers from Handcocks Creek to Mill Creek. 1755 - Petit Jury returned Novr Court: Benajah Doty, others. 1755 - Wm. Nicholson vs Fras. Fountain: Issue - Benajah Doty, others. The above jury on oath give their verdict for the Plt. four pounds three shillings and ten pence procl. with 66d Costs. 1756 - Owen Daughety prayed to have his Mark recorded vizt: a Swallow fork and under keel in the left ear and an underkeel in the right ear. ----- Craven County, NC County Court Minutes 1757-1763 Book V 1757 - On motion of Mr. Powell. It was ordered that Benjn. Doty have leave to keep an Ordinary at his now dwelling house he giving Isaac Vandam and Robert Caruthers Sectys. as the Law directs. 1758 - Benajah Doty a. Jno. Thally: issue. Jos. Fisher, __our. The same jury as in the cause Jno. Starkey against Jno. Rice on their oath find their verdict for the Plaintiff and say that the defendant did assume and assess damages seven pounds twelve shillings and two pence procl. money. 1759 - Read the petition of Richard Blackledge praying to have leave to keep a Publick ferry over the Neuse River being the place where he now lives granted and ordered that he enter into bond with sufficient secty. according to Act of Assembly and that the following persons be appointed Jurors to lay out the Road from the Road leading up and down Neuse River on the so. side thereof to the sd. ferry and from thence to the road on the No. side of Neuse River to wit: Owen Daugherty, Danie Daugherty, others. Feredges as they do at Stringer's ferry. 1759 - The following persons are appointed Overseers of the Roads in the following districts vizt: Benjah Doty from Foys to Trent Bridge, others. 1762 - Court ordered the following to be Grand Jurors: Owen Daugherty, others. 1762 - Benejah Doty a. James Farr: Enquiry. The same jury as in the last cause on their oaths find their verdict for the Plt. and assess damages to twenty six pounds proc. money and 6d. costs. 1763 - Ordered that Owen Daugherty serve as an overseer of the Road from Mosleys Bridge to the Oak Branch for the ensuing year in the room and stead of (blank). ----- Craven County, NC County Court Minutes 1764-1771 Book VI 1764 - Ordered that the road leading from Longfield Coxes to the Slate Landing which is now used by passengers be and continue to be the publick road from said Coxes to said landing and ordered that Owen Daugherty act as Overseer of said road. 1764 - Ordered that Daniel Daugherty serve (sic) of the road in the room of Owen Daugherty. 1764 - Read the petition of sundry of the inhabitants of Craven County on Core Creek praying that a road be laid off for the __ a convenient landing at the place where John McKenney lives the same was granted and ordered that the following Jurors lay out sd road viz: Wm Doherty, others. 1768 - Ordered that Joseph Bruton serve as Overseer of the Road in the room of Daniel Daughety for the ensuing year. 1770 - Ordered that the Sheriff of Craven County pay Owen Daughity thirteen pounds Proc. money out of the County Tax for 1769 being this countys proportion for building South West Creek Bridge. ----- Craven County, NC County Court Minutes 1767-1778 Book VII 1767 - Ordered that the road from Longfield Coxes to (Bectons Ferry crossed out) the Slate Landing. 1768 - A Power of Attorney from Elizzbeth Yeates to Absalom Daughety was proved in open court by the oath of William Ballard Evidence thereto agreeable to law and ordered to be registered. ----- Craven County, NC County Court Minutes 1779-1786 Book VIII 1785 - Ordered that the following persons vizt: Danl. Daughety, Owen Daughety, Shadrack Loftin, Richd. Daughety, Absalom Daughety, others to lay off a road from the old road on the so. side of Nuse (River) to Shadrack Loftins Ferry and from thence to the county line. 1785 - Ordered that William Daughety have adm. upon the estate of Solomon Daughety he giving bond 100 pounds with Danl. Wist (sic) and Jas. Heath securitys. 1785 - Account of sales of the estate of Solomen Daughety was rendered and filed. 1 Jun 1786 - The Last Will and Testament of Owen Daughety was exhibited in court and proved by the oath of Daniel D_____ (illegible). 3 Jun 1786 - The Last Will and Testament of Owen Daughety was produced in open court and duly proved by the oath of Daniel Daughety one of the subscribing witnesses [entry in left margin] This Will was Entered Minutes before". ----- Craven County, NC County Court Minutes 1787-1795 Book IX 1787 - Ordered the following persons be a Jury to lay off a road from Coxes ferry on the North Side of Nuse (River) to the north west side of Bectons Old field viz: Danl Daughety, Owen Daughety, Richard Daughery, others. 1787 - It appearing that Court that (sic) Danl. Daughety is charged one poll tax for 1786 more than he ought ordered that he be releceed from the payment thereof. 1790 - A settlement of the accounts of William Daugherty admin. of Solomon Daugherty decd. was returned by the referees appointed to audit the same, was approved of by the court and ordered to be recorded. 1790 - Neal Watson who was bound in recognizance to appear at this court and enter into bond with security for the maintenance of a bastard child begot upon the body of Elizabeth Daughety appeared and entered into bond of 50 pounds with David OBryan and Richard Watson his securities.
