Witnesses: A.B. CARROLL, John W. RHEM, W.F. MILLS, John CROOM, Thom B. IPOCK, 
Mrs. DAUGHERTY, Reuben WHITE, H.P. DAUGHTERY
Witness statements: CARROLL identified deceased by his shoes, hat, and shirt. 
Knows he was in the custody of the constable Saturday night the 4th & got away 
from him and not been seen since. "I did hear any report of fire arms in the 
neighborhood that night [This is probably supposed to be 'did not hear..."] 
and have not heard of there being any trouble..." After he was reported found 
CARROLL visited the place & was certain it was DAUGHTERY, and notified the 
coroner. RHEM, MILLS, CROOM, and IPOCK all corroborate CARROLL. Mrs. DAUGHTERY 
says she knows the remains to be that of her husband by the coat, pipe, & 
knife, &c. WHITE says he does not recognize anything about the clothes to make 
him say it is Dick DAUGHTERY. Has not seen him for 3 or 4 months. H.P. 
DAUGHTERY says he does not see anything about clothes or otherwise to identify 
him as his brother. "I have [not] seen him for over one year. His wife says 
they are the remains of Richard and therefore I am satisfied they are his 
remains."
Inquest verdict: Inquest held 10 Sept 1886 in Dover. "We the jury are 
satisfied from the evidence given here that they are the remains of Richard 
DAUGHERTY and that he came to his death from causes to the jury unknown."
