Your favor of the 20 altimno enclosing the depositions of Mr Jones has come to hand. From the statement in your letter in relation to Mr. Jones’ character, & the certificate of the magistrate in relation to his undefitily his deposition will doubtfully have due weight before the companions of persons at Washington in the affiliation for this half pay of Jeps Cannon. The depositions heretofore taken under companion were to be used in a court in Chancy, after persons who had fraudulently obtain from the unto states, the scope for its bounty land. The select unto those depositions were taken, was fatally affection away perhaps to the infusion of council and notes have to be disinvest and a new one begun, in which of court also that has him down with know to be done over. In the suit Richard Buck and his wife have to be made parties defendants to the ailed and preparatory to this I should like to know certainly if they are living. Will you do me the favor to ascertain that fact. If they are dead who is heirs also if any. They have a daughter about 14 years old who should both of them be dead, is probably living. Please in that unto ascertain the name of this girl & her private residence. Buck and his wife when I saw them nearly 2 years ago, bound in Onslow County is what is called Richland district, about 45 miles from Newbern on the Wilmington Road and near the resident of Wm Humphrey a magistrate & adman appointee will know about Newbern. Beyond Wm Humphrey there is a house on the road where the stage stops which I think then is a post office, I will not be certain, of much moiety about newbern also. I think you may ascertain these facts at Cutter if he be still living. Be so good as to inform him of that fact. Also and whatever his raision is not Henry G Cutter. Also let me know if David Fordham & John R Good are both living. I shall file my bill in the causes of thirty days, or should like to do it, and will be much obliged to you if you will obtain for me the desired information as soon as possible. I do not know how I shall repay you for the service you have already done me.
