LISBORN, H. MOORE Inquest held at George St. In New Bern. GOSLIN testified he was train engineer, passenger train was about 3/4 mile above depot in New Bern, saw man crossing track. Blew his whistle and used brakes, but man continued across track. Right bumper of train hit man; engineer went back and picked him up, took him to next station. HARVEY certified above. MOORE testified LISBON left home to go to field about 6:45 AM; field is 3/4 mile above depot (Duffy plantation). LISBON was hard of hearing. R.H. LISBON certified MOORE's statement. Verdict: LISBON died from blow from train, no blame to engineer. Train signal unnoticed due to high wind and deafness of victim.
