Craven County, NC - Francis Lofton & Henry Blalock, 1786 Newbern, June 1 Yesterday evening the Superior Court of this district adjourned; during their session several very important civil actions were decided: In the criminal side, Francis Lofton and Henry Blalock were tried for counterfeiting the paper currency of this state, when the former for want of sufficient evidence, was acquitted and the later being convicted of the charge, was sentended to receive thirty-nine lashes, to be cropped in one ear, imprisoned 12 months and have one half of his property confiscated.
