Situation is that COBB brought suit against the POWELLS, and the jury said that the defendants were not indebted. COBB appealed. Condition of this bond is that if COBB prosecutes his case to good effect in Superior Court, then bond is void. States that by law anyone bringing a slave into the state by land must pay a fee to the county clerk. If they do not do so within a specified time, they must pay a fine of £100 to the court, half of which is given to the citizen who charged them with not paying the fee. Nathan COBB so charged Jeremiah and NATHAN POWELL, who had brought a slave boy into the county. County found that they did not owe anything to COBB, and COBB appealed.
