FRISBEE [could be FISHER], Geo WOMBLE, Lewis BROWN Witness statements: FRISBEE states he was in the cabin of his vessel writing. He the deceased fell overboard "(as I supposed)". Heard him holler and ran on deck and threw him a rope as he was going down the last time. Then went with others to grapple for him & got him after awhile. FRISBEE says he got his boy from Petersburg VA; got him to take care of. WOMBLE states he assisted in grappling for him. BROWN says he was about 150 yards from the boy when he fell out of the boat; saw him go down for the last time. Inquest verdict: Inquest held on 16 July 1885 at New Bern. Came to his death by accidental drowning.
