The Petition of Isaac, John, Hiney and Julia Jones, infants under the age of twenty one years by William Jones their father and guardian of Lucas, Francis and Sarah Benners alas by Lucas Jacob Benners their father and guardian of Frances and of Isaac Patridge also infants by Thomas L Cheeke their guardian and next friend, and of Lucas Heritage also an infant by Benners Vail his guardian & next friend humbly submit that John Benners Esq late of Craven County departed this life same time in the year 1800 living previously made his last will and testament whereof the appointed Benners Vail aforesaid sole executor and by his said wife among at other thing bequeath as follows, viz..I give and bequeath unto my beloved sister Elisabeth Howard eleven Negro’s during her natural life and after her decease to be equally divided among her grand children viz Ballah, Lucy Juliet Simon George Gats old Dinah Pumora Ben Luck and old Tom to them and their heirs forever. And your petitioners further above that the said Benners Vail executor as aforesaid (can’t read the rest of this sentence-jh) forever qualified thereunto as executor afore appointed to the said legacy and delivers the aforesaid Negroes unto the said Elizabeth Howard and petitioners do further stated that said Elizabeth Howard is lately dead, that you petitioners the grandchildren of the said Elizabeth Howard and her other grandchildren. Petition to the said Negroes and their increase ought to be equally divided.
