DOD: 14 June 1870 Witnesses: Mrs Furney WEST Witness statements: Witness stated that she is wife of Furney WEST. They went to bed early last night. He had been complaining of shortness of breath for a long time, but said he felt better. When witness woke early this morning, she spoke to him, and waited some time for him to answer. She then went to the bed and found that he was dead. He made no noise during the night. Inquest verdict: Inquest held on Metcalf St. in New Bern. Verdict: Deceased died of heart disease.
