WILLIAMS DOD: 28 Aug 1882 Witnesses: Chas. MCCOTTER, Lewis DAVIS, Harmon MIDYETT, Isaac WATERS, Alex WILLIAMS Witness statements: MCCOTTER thinks he knew deceased; called him John WILLIAMS. WILLIAMS went with MCCOTTER one trip on the Sch. Susan; he then went on the Ogeechee. DAVIS knew the deceased, and called him Bill WILLIAMS. Knew him on the Sch. Ogeechee. Never knew him to drink or have fits. MIDYETTE knew him on the Sch. Susan as John WILLIAMS. Never knew him to drink. WATERS knew the man as Bill WILLIAMS. WILLIAMS was in WATERS' shop every day--"drank right smart." Was on a spree last Saturday-was not drinking Monday. When WATERS last saw him he was going on board the Ogeechee to put the lights. A. WILLIAMS said he knew the deceased; sailed with him several trips. His name was Bill WILLIAMS. Never knew him to drink. Last Mon. night deceased was at A. WILLIAMS' house to supper at 6 o'clock and left to put lights on the Ogeechee. Inquest verdict: Inquest held 30 Aug 1882. Came to his death by being accidentally drowned in the waters of the Trent River.
