Craven County, NC - Thomas & Lydia Badger to Lydia Cogdell, 1794

This Indenture made this fifth day of November in the year of our Lord 
one thousand seven hundred and ninety three, between Thomas Badger and 
Lydia Badger his wife of the one part, and Lydia Cogdell of the other 
part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the rent herein after 
mentioned and for divers other good consideration the said Thomas and 
Lydia Badger have demised, granted and to farm let, and by these 
presents do for themselves and their and each of their heirs demise, 
grant and to farm let, unto the said Lydia Cogdell and her assigns a 
certain piece or parcel of land lying in the Town of Newbern being that 
part of the lott known in the plan of said town by the Number Eighty 
One (81) which lies on the south of a right line drawn, or to be drawn 
from the middle of the Front to the middle of the back line of said 
lot, so as to divide the same into two equal parts, and all and 
singular the Houses and buildings thereon, and their appurtenances, To 
Have and to hold the said part or moiety of the said lot and all the 
premises hereinmentioned, to her the said Lydia Cogdell and her assigns 
from the making hereof for by and during all the term of her natural 
life, Yielding and paying therefor yearly during the said term, to the 
said Thomas Badger and Lyida Badger one pepper corn, and the said 
Thomas Badger and Lydia Badger do Covenant, promise and agree that the 
said Lydia Cogdell and her assigns shall or lawfully may quietly hold, 
occupy and enjoy all and singular the said demised premises with their 
and every of their appurtenances, during the said term of her natural 
live with out the suit, trouble eviction, or interruption of them the 
said Thomas Badger and Lydia Badger their Executors, Administrators or 
assigns In Witness whereof they have hereunto set their hands and seals 
the day and year above written

                           June Craven County Court 1794
Then was the above deed proved in open Court by the oath
of Edward Harris Esquire and ordered to be Recorded
