Mason http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00016.html#0003873 May 4, 2019, 7:20 pm Written: 1784 Register of Deeds Bertie Co., NC Bk. 26, p. 218 James BURN of Bertie Co., NC to Caleb HOOTEN, land in Craven County, NC 25 Feb 1784 North Carolina Bertie County This Indenture made this Twenty fifth day of February 1784 between James BURN of the County & province aforesaid of the one part and Caleb HOTTEN of the other part, Witnesseth for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred Pounds proclamation money by the said Caleb HOOTEN to the said James BURN in ? and paid the Receipt whereof is hereof fully acknowledged. We the said James BURNS for himself and his heirs hath Granted bargained and sold aliened assessed & set over and by these presents doth Grant bargain, sell align, and set off and set over unto Him the said Caleb HOOTEN his Heirs and assigns, One certain Mesuage? piece parcel or tract of land containing three hundred and thirty acres more or less in Craven County. Beginning at the mouth of Bare Branch at Henry GARDS? beginning so up along to the back line to a stake as will more fully appear by the patent the down to the River pocosin then to the first station it being a parcel or Tract of land formerly belonging to Robert WEST to whom the said WEST sold to BURN. To have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of Land with the appurtenances & all rights privileges, improvements to the same in anywise belonging to Him the said Caleb HOOTEN his Heirs & assigns forever & the sd. James BURN for himself and his Heirs & assigns doth hereby agree to and with the sd. Caleb HOOTEN his Heirs & assigns that he the said James BURN hath full possession and authority to sell and convey and make over the aforesaid given said Land & premises forever and further that He the said Caleb HOOTEN his heirs and assigns shall and may for peaceably & —— have hold occupy & possess enjoy the aforesaid Granted Land premises without the let or molestation of or any person whatsoever For & clear from all & sell of Manner of Farmer or other Incumbrances whatsoever & the said James BURN & doth oblige himself his Heirs Exec.s., Admrs. to Warrant and defend the aforesaid Granted Land and premises and every part & parcel thereof to him the said Caleb HOOTEN his heirs and assigns forever from & against him the said James BURN his Heirs and assigns and all persons Lawfully Claiming or to claim by from or under Him or them or any of them & from & against all & all manner of persons whoever. Lawfully claim or hereafter may Lawfully claim the sd. Land and Premises or any part of Parcell thereof. In Testimony whereof the the said James BURN hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day & year above written. Jas.
