John Carraway to Aaron Smith, Deed of Gift
2 July 1745

To all Christian people John Carraway of Craven County to his son in law Aaron 
Smith of same province and state land lying and being on the south side of Neuse 
river and on the west side of Michaels Creek containing by estimation one hundred 
and fifty acres being part of the tract of land I now live on.

If Smith should die without issue land to be returned to me again my heirs. If he 
has a mind to sell the said land he shall on penalty of his title give me the 
refusal thereof, together with title claims and demands.

Witnesses: Robert Fellow, John Gardner, Thomas Price

Proved the 4th day of September before C. Justice Hall, 1744 (sic)
