Craven County, NC - John A. Brice to Charles Cogdell, 1762 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Craven County Register of Deeds Deed Book 11, page 285 TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS, shall come, I, John A. Brice of the County of Craven and Province of North Carolina, Send Greeting, Know Ye, that I, John A. Brice, for and in consideration of the sum of £100 Proc. Money to me in hand well and truly paid by Chas. Cogdell of the same place, Gentleman, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself therewith fully satisfied, contented and paid have given, granted, bargained, sold, ensealed, conveyed and confirmed, and do by these presents give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, enseal, convey and confirm unto the said Chas. Cogdell, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, all that tract or parcel of land, lying and being on the east side of Brices Creek, in Craven County, beginning at Halltons Branch, Frances Bones' line tree, then running back on his line to the dividing line, which was run across for Lewis Williams, and following the same lines which was run for Lewis Williams to the first station, intending the same land and Island on the Creek which formerly sold him, and by him recovering to me by deed bearing date the 20th day of May, 1762, containing by estimation 170 acres edivices of the Island before-mentioned, being part of a large tract or parcel of land bequeath to the said John A. Brice by my father, William Brice, by his last will and testament, reference being thereto had, may more fully and at large appear TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said tract or parcel of land, and all other the premises and improvements thereunto belonging and every part and parcel thereof unto the said Chas. Cogdell, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever to the sole and only proper use and behoof of him, the said Chas. Cogdell, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, and I, the said John A. Brice, for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, do covenant, promise and agree to and with the said Chas. Cogdell, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns and every of them by these presents may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter lawfully, peaceably and quietly have, hold, use, occupy, possess and enjoy all the said tract or parcel of land and premises hereby-mentioned and intended to be granted to his and their own proper use, without any let, suit, trouble, hindrance or interruption whatsoever, and the said John A. Brice for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators the said tract or parcel of land unto the said Chas. Cogdell, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, will warrant and defend from claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever, and will if auction give any other and better deed so as to save the said Chas. Cogdell, his heirs, and a good title to the said land thereby intended to be granted if this present deed should not be thought sufficient by persons learned in the law IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal, the 28th day of June, 1762 Signed, sealed and delivered John A.
