Craven County, NC - Peter Conway to Richard Cogdell, 1767 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Craven County Register of Deeds This Indenture made the 10th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty five between Peter Conway of Craven County in the Province of North Carolina of the one part and Richard Cogdell of the County and Province aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Peter Conway for and in consideration of the sum of forty five pounds proclamation money to him in hand paid by the said Peter Conway before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Hath given granted and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien enfeoff convey and confirm unto the said Richard Cogdell his heirs and assigns one house and lott or half acre of land situate in Newbern in the county and Province aforesaid and known in the plan of the said Town on [blank] street by the number 81 eighty one which said lott was conveyed to the said Peter Conway by Hernero Duncan by deed bearing date the eighteenth day of October one thousand seven hundred and sixty three under her title from William Heritage by his deed to her bearing date the twenty ninth day of June one thousand seven hundred and fifty nine, to which and the records of Craven County reference being thereunto had may more fully and at large appear with the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits of the said premises and with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging To have and to hold the said lott or half acre of land unto him the said Richard Cogdell his heirs and assigns to the only proper use benefit and behoof of the said Richard Cogdell his heirs and assigns forever and the said Peter Conway doth for himslef his heirs executors & administrators convenant and agree to and with the said Richard Cogdell his heirs and assigns shall & may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter have hold use occupy possess and enjoy the said house and lott or half acre of land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging free and clear of all incumbrances whatsoever had made done or committed by the said Peter Conway his heirs executors administrators or by any other person or persons and the said Peter Conway his heirs executors and administrators doth futher covenant and agree to and with the said Richard Cogdell his heirs and assigns that he the said Peter Conway his heirs executors and administrators the said house and lott or half acre of land against the lawfull claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever claiming by from or under him them or any of them will covenant and defend into the said Richard Cogdell his heirs and assigns forever In Witness whereof the said Peter Conway & Mary Conway his wife hath hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year aforesaid Signed Sealed and Delivered } in the presence of } Peter Conway {Seal} Robt.
