Witnefseth that whereas there ifsued sundry execution from the County Pleas & Quarter Sefsions of said County of Craven at the instance of different people against the property of Allen Dubberly all bearing tax of December Term 1813 of said Court & made returnable to the March Term thereof 1814 & directed to the Sheriff of said County and among them one at the instance of the State Bank of North Carolina Commanding said Sheriff to sell three hundred acres of land which by his return on a former writ he had levied on for the of satisfying the president and directors of the State Bank of North Carolina the sum of seventy five pounds two shillings & six pence lately recovered by them against said Allen Dubberly for debt & also the sum of one pound twelve shillings for damages & the further sum of five pounds six shillings & three pence for costs & charges in said suit expended. Another at the instance of William W Hill Commanding said Sheriff to sell a tract of land on Fort Barnwell the property of Allen Dubberly which by his return and former execution he stated he had levied on for the purpose of satisfying the William vs Hill the sum of one hundred and thirty eight pounds five shillings and six pence lately recovered by him against said Allen Dubberly, Joseph Allen & Benjamin Allen for debt of the same of one pound fourteen shillings & seven pence for damages as also the sum of five pounds eighteen shillings & nine pence for costs & charges in said suit expended which writs as well as others against said Allen having come to the hands of said Ruben P Jones as sheriff & having first duly advertised said lands for sale at the court house in the town of Newbern did on the day appointed (viz) the sixteen day of March 1814 at the door of the Court House in Newbern proceed to set up the said lands for sale to the highest bidder for ready money The tract described in both the above execution being the same when it was struck off to said John R Donnell at the sum of six hundred and thirty five dollars he being the last and highest bidder therefore at that price. Now therefore be it known to all whom it may concern that he the said Ruben P Jones Sheriff as aforesaid for and in consideration of the said sum of sise hundred & thirty five dollars to him in hand paid by the said John R Donnell before the ensealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and by virtue of his authority as sheriff under the writs aforesaid and the laws of the State in such cases made and provided, hath granted bargained sold aliened afsigned and transferred and by these presents doth grant bargain & sell aliens afsigns and transfer unto him the said John R Donnell the afore mentioned piece or parcel of land together with all the estate right title interest & claim of him the said Allen Dubberly in and to the same or any part thereof it being the same land which was lately the property of Thomas Allen Uncle of said Allen Dubberly on Fort Barnwell in said County of Craven & which by his dying interest and without ifsue fell to his next of kin of whom said Dubberly was and & who he once became the owner of a number of other shares in said tracts by purchase. To have and to hold the unto him the said John R Donnell his heirs and afsigns forever as fully amply of largely to writs above mentioned or referred to or any or other of them & the law of the state in such cases made & provided in or may be authorized imposed to convey or give title to. In Testimony whereof he the said Reuben P Jones as Sheriff aforesaid hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & year first above written.
