Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the Sum of Seven Pounds ten shillings Proclamation Money by the said John Ipock unto the said Lazarus Gatlin in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged. He the said Lazarus Gatlin hath Given, Granted, Bargained and Sold and doth hereby Give, Grant, Bargain, and sell unto him the said Ipock, his Heirs and Assigns forever a sartin Part of a Tract of Land lying in the County of Craven and Provence of north Carolina and on the North side of Nuce River and the East side of Swifts Creek and East Side of Bair Branch to the Run and on the South side of a littel Branch that maketh out of the said Bair Branch to the run of both branches including all that Part of a Patton granted to John Gatlin and by Conveyance to Lazarus Gatlin. Being all that part that lyeth to the E't. side of Bair branch a run and on the south side of the said little Branch Run joining the Said John Ipock Land by Estamation fifteen Acres be it more or less. Includ all the said land on the Est Side of Bair Branch and South side of the little Branch aforesd to the said Ipock Line which little Branch maketh out of Bair branch between Lazarus Gatlin's Plantation and the Road. To Have and to Hold the aforesaid granted part of a Tract of Land fifteen acres more or less with all the Rights, Benefits and Advantiges to the same in any wise belonging unto him the said John Ipock, his Heirs and Assigns forever. And the said Lazarus Gatlin for himself, his Heirs, Executors and Administrators doth hereby Promise and agree to and with the said John Ipock that he the said Lazarus Gatlin, his Heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns, the aforesaid granted fifteen Acres of Land with all and singular the Profits, Benefits and Advantages to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said John Ipock, his Heirs or Assigns and the said Lazarus Gatlin doth Covenant and agree to and for himself, his Heirs, Executors, Administrators to forever to warrant and for ever Defend unto the said John Ipock, his Heirs and assigns forever, a good Right, quiet and peaceable persestion against the Claim of any Person or Persons whatsoever laying just Clame thereto. And the said John Ipock, his Heirs and assigns, shall and may at all times hereafter forever peaceable have, Hold, use, Occupy and Possess the same without the least hinderance or Molestation of him the said Lazarus Gatlin or any other Person whatsoever. C. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Lazarus Gatlin Deed Craven County, North Carolina Deed Book 36, page 698 This indenture made this thirteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and five, between Lazarus Gatlin, James Morris and Ann his Wife of the one part and John Gatlin of the other part. Witnesseth that whereas John Gatlin, late of Craven County, dec'd was seized and possessed of two tracts of land of one hundred acres each granted to him by patent, one bearing date the 4th of May 1769 and the other bearing date the 25th January 1773. And whereas by the death of the said John Gatlin the said Lazarus and the Ann Morris, two of the children of the said John Gatlin became entitled to two eighths of the above said two hundred acres of land which remain yet undivided. Now know ye that we the said Lazarus Gatlin and James Morris and Ann his wife for and in consideration of the sum of thirty one dollars to us in hand paid by the said John Gatlin the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge have given, granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do give, grant, bargain sell, convey and make over unto the said John Gatlin all our rights, title and Intent in and to the said two eighths of the aforesaid two hundred acres of Land To have and to hold unto him the John Gatlin, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns. We the said Lazarus Gatlin and James Morris and Ann his wife do for ourselves, our heirs, and admin'r do warrant and forever defend the aforesaid bargained premises against all our(?) claims against all persons whatsoever. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands & seals, at Newbern in the County of Craven and State North Carolina day and year above written.
