MOORE of Craven Co, to Alexander HOOTEN of Lenoir County, NC. 3 Nov 1891 State of North Carolina Craven County This deed, made this 3rd day of November 1891 by Wright MOORE and wife of Craven County and State of North Carolina of the first part and Alexander HOOTEN of Lenoir County and Sate of North Carolina of the second part. Witnesseth: That said Wright MOORE and wife parties of the first part in Consideration of Eleven hundred ($1100) dollars to them paid by Alexander HOOTEN the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey to the said Alexander HOOTEN and his heirs a certain tract or parcel of land situate in Craven County, State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of W. B. PEARCE, Willie HILL and others, bounded as follows: Beginning at a pen bush near the School House then running north to Meeting house branch, then with said branch to Moseley’s Creek, then with said Creek to Willy HILL’S line South to Meting house branch then down the branch to the road there with said road to a post Oak, then with School house line to the beginning containing two hundred acres more or less. It being the same land said Wright MOORE now lives on. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging to the said Alexander HOOTEN his heirs and assigns to their only use and behoof forever. And the said Wright MOORE & wife Covenant that they are seized of said premises in fee and have a good right to Convey the same in fee simple: that the same are free and clear from all encumbrances and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whatsoever. LANE North Carolina Craven County I. J. W. LANE, J. P. do hereby certify that Wright MOORE and H. M. B. MOORE his wife, personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the annexed deed of Conveyance, and the said H. M. B. MOORE being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband touching her voluntary execution of the same, doth State that she signed the same freely and voluntarily without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any other person and that she doth still Voluntarily assent thereto.
