Craven County, NC - Robert Pitts to Benedictus Venery, 1728/9

North Carolina  } To all Christian people to whom these presents 
Cou Precinct    } shall come Greeting: Know ye that I Robert Pitts of 
Craven Prect in Bath County & provc of No Carolina Planter in consideration 
of the sum of thirty pounds curt money of this prov to me in hand paid 
before the ensealing and delivery of these presents by Benedictus Venery of 
the precnt county and province afores'd planter that the recpt whereof I do 
hereby acknowledge and myself therewith fully satisfied contented and have 
given granted bargained sold aliened conveyed confirmed by these presents 
for myself my heirs exer's admin's do fully freely and absolutely give grant 
bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto the said Benedictus Venery his 
heirs exer's admin's & assigns a certain tract of land containing one hundred 
and eighty acres lying on the north side of Neuse River on Greens Creek 
beginning at the great swamp above John Bellards land runing down the said 
creek to John Payton corner tree 176 poles then wt 320 poles to a dogwood 
then wt 15 no 100 pole to a beach at the sd of a swamp then down the said 
swamp to the first station to have and to hold the bargained premises 
appertenances with all & every part and parcel of the same unto the sd 
Benedictus Venery his heirs & assigns forever & I the said Robert Pitts 
for myself my heirs exer's adm's do covenant grant promise & agree to and 
with the said Benedictus Venery his heirs and assigns in manner & form 
following (that is to say) that I the sd Benedictus Venery his heirs and 
assigns shall and may from time to time and at all times hereafter peaceably 
and quietly have hold use occupy and enjoy the bargained premises & 
appertanances unto him the said Benedictus Venery his heirs and assigns 
against all and all manner of persons or other gifts grant bargain sale 
joyntures dowries extending recovering remainders & all other charges and 
incumbrances whatsoever and that I the said Robert Pitts my heirs exer's & 
admin's the prebargained premises and appertenances unto him the said 
Benedictus Venery his heirs & assigns against all and all manner persons 
whatsoever claiming by from or undermined by any other ways measures pretense 
whatsoever shall and will warrant & forever defend by these presents In witness 
whereof I the said Robert Pitts have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal 
this 3rd day of May 1728/9
