Craven County, NC - Alexander Blackshear to Henry Roads, 1762 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Craven County Register of Deeds - 100 acres This Indenture made between Alexander Blackshear of Craven County in the province of North Carolina planter of the one part and Henry Roads of the said county and province aforesaid planter of the other part. Witnesseth that I the said Alexander Blackshear do for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred two year old hogs to him in hand paid by Henry Roads the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself therewith to have been fully contented satisfied and paid have granted bargained sold aliened enseal convey assign and set over unto Henry Roads and to his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing by patent one hundred acres of land lying & being in Craven County aforesaid and situate on the west side of trent River on tuckahoe beginning at a pine thence runing S 25 E 80 pole to a pine thence S 75 W to 50 chains to a pine thence N 75 E 50 chains to the first station containing fully and absolutely one hundred acres of land more or less all and singular the premises above mentioned what joins thereto belonging or in anywise appurtaining TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the fore mentioned and granted premises with appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof unto the said Henry Roads and to his Caleb Pince 300 acres Carteret joining Richd Russell upper plane running up the River and then up a swamp to his heirs and assigns forever one hundred acres of land and to there only proper use binifit and behoof of the said Henry Roads his heirs and assigns forever and as for me the said Alexander Blackshear or my heirs and assigns the fore mentioned and granted premises and every part with out any manner of condition to alter or to change the same and as for me the said Alexander Blackshear my heirs and assigns do warrant and forever defend the above said one hundred acres of land that beith on both sides of Rattle Snake Swamp with a plantation on it with the houses fences orchards medows woods ways waters under woods commons advantages hereditaments without any other let trouble molestation or other discharges incumbrances and the said Alexander Blackshear his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend the said one hundred acres of land to Henry Roads and to his heirs forever from all persons In Witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this 31st day of Dec'r 1760, the Kings due excepted Signed Sealed & Delivered } in presents of us } Alexander (his x mark) Blackshear {Seal} John Gilbert } John Bryan } Jan'y Craven Court 1762 The above Deed was proved in open Court by the oath of John Gilbert in order to be Registered Peter Conway C.S.C ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
