White Craven County, North Carolina Deed Book 66, Page 423 This Indenture made and executed this 21st day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Sixty-one by and between Leroy M. White and Nancy M. White his wife of Craven County State of North Carolina of the first part and M.W.H Sumrell of the County and State aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth That whereas at the Fall Term 1859 of the Court of Equity for the County and State aforesaid Whichcote White, Leroy M. White & others filed their petition for the sale for partition of a tract of land in Craven County which descended to them as heirs at-Law of Mordecai White deceased and whereas said tract of land was sold by the Clerk Master of said Court in pursuance of the order thereof: And the proceeds were ordered to be distributed among said heirs, and Nancy M. White wife of Leroy M. White is one of said heirs and entitled to the sum of One hundred & fifty-eight 99/100 dollars being the one sixth part of the net proceeds of said sale. Now therefore for and in consideration of the promised and for the further consideration of one dollar in hand paid to the said parties of the first part by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is herely acknowledged the said parties of the first part have given granted bargained and sold and by these present do give grant bargain sell and canvey unto the said party of the second part hes heirs and assigns all their right title & interest in & to the said proceeds of this sale of land. To Have and to Hold the same to him the said M.W.H. Sumrell his heirs and asssigns forever. In Witness whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and Seals this day and year first above written. Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of William R. White and Nancy M. his wife and acknowledged the above execution by them of the forgoing deed - And therefore the said Nancy M. being by me privately examined separate and apart from her said husband touching her free consent of this execution of said Instrument declared that she executed the same firstly of her own will and accord & without any force ????? or under influence on the part of her said husband or any other person and that she still acknowledges(too blurred to read.)
