Craven County, NC - Farnefold Green - Revolutionary Service ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Delamar Extracts, Pgs 1-200 Legislative Papers Relating to Revolutionary Service NC Archives Farnefold Green. Petition humbly sheweth that your Petitioners father died on the 25th day of October 1783 made an entry in John Armstrong's office in the name of your Petitioner in the following words Viz in Green Co. lying near the head of Richland Creek including a Bent the East side of the same above where the Warpath crossed the same, it being the first prong the said path crosses after leaving German Creek. That when your petitioner became of age (finding that said entry never was surveyed nor a grant issued on it) he went out to the western country in pursuit of the Warrant &c and to gain what information he could relative to the land. Your petitioner states that Adam Meeks of Jefferson Co. State of Tennessee informed him that he saw Isaac Taylor (who drew said warrant and carried it out to the western country) deliver the said Warrant to Stockley Donelson at the mouth of Dumplin Creek, of which circumstances the said Meeks made affidavit in the County Court of Jefferson. Said Donelson informed your petitioner that he knew nothing about it, altho your petitioner is well assured that the above information was correct & true. The said Isaac Taylor who delivered the said Warrant to Donelson is dead, and because there is no hope of getting the said Warrant from said Donelson. Your petitioner has understood that the said Donelson put a large quantity of Warrants into the hands of a certain Mayberry who was killed by the Indians and it is very presumable that said Warrant must be among the number. Your petitioner has made two tedious trips to the western country of not less than 1600 miles, is under no doubt but the said Warrant is lost, and prays that the Secretary of State be directed to issue a Warrant in lieu of the one lost Certified to before William Armstrong, Justice of the Peace, Wake County. Copy of the warrant to Furnifold Junr attached and certified to by Will White, Sec. In the Senate Dec 17, and in the House Dec 19, 1803, and referred to the Committee ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
