Petition. Your petitioner respectfully sheweth that he became the owner of several military land warrants as will be shewn by a list herewith accompanying this petition. These warrants your petitioner placed in the hands of Stokely Donelson for the purpose of having the same located & surveyed. Most of which warrants have been sent by the Commissioners from Martin Armstrong's office to the Commissioners convened at Raleigh for the investigation of frauds; & some few were found among the papers of Wm. Tyrrell. As these warrants have under went the examination of the said Commissioners, and have their remarks annexed to each warrant. Your petitioner prays for Hon'ble body to direct the Secretary to deliver to him such warrants as he shall shew a good title to and such as have passed the said Board without any marks of fraud accompanying them. That your Committee have carefully examined the list of warrants claimed by the petitioner and compared the same with the books of Commissioners under whose inspection those warrants have fallen and find that the following warrants are remarked as being good and the names of the soldiers on the muster rolls to wit Warrant No. 461 granted to John Bullock and transferred to the petitioner Warrant No. 1122 granted to Daniel White Warrant No. 1379 granted to Samuel Reed, adm'r of John Smith Warrant No. 379 granted to William Charlton Warrant No. 274 granted Thomas Moore Warrant No. 3598 granted to Clement Godfrey Warrant No. 3596 granted Robert Staples All of the foregoing appear just and good warrants, but your Committee think proper to remark that all these warrants appear assigned over by forgery to Donelson and Tyrrel The following warrants have also been inspected by the Commissioners and have not been found on the Muster roll No. 2997 granted Isaac Dines No. 637 granted to Malachi Russell No. 3000 granted Benjamin Davidson No. 272 granted Elisha Williams No. 3110 granted Joseph Kelly No. 3000 granted Benjamin Davidson No. 499 granted Severeign Bloxam No. 600 granted John Rogerson No. 3591 granted the Heirs of Lemuel Horton ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
