Edenton Gazette, Thurs. Sept. 8, 1808 September 8, 1808
   It is believed that WILLIAM GASTON, ESQ., will be a candidate for the 
appointment of Elector, in this District [Newbern] . We understand that MR. 
GASTON has been applied to from various quarters for that purpose, and has 
expressed a willingness to make a tender of his services, should it appear to 
meet the general wish of his friends in the district.-- Newbern Herald
