Following an illness of several weeks Mrs. Mary Frances Berry, died at her home at 64 Johnson street last night at 7 o'clock. She was in her eighty-fourth year. The funeral services will be conducted from the Presbyterian church at 4 o'clock this afternoon by Dr. J. N. H. Summerell, to be followed by interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Berry was one of New Bern's oldest and most highly esteemed women. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and one of its most devout and faithful workers, having devoted much of her younger life to its services. By the church and the city she will be greatly missed. Surviving the deceased are one son, a well known sign artist; and two daughters, all of New Bern. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Mary Frances Berry was the daughter of Whichcote and Mary Cassandra White. She married Richard Thomas Berry. E. T. Berry was Edward Thomas Berry; Mrs. Walter Fulford was Florence Elizabeth Berry, and Mamie C. Berry was Mary "Mamie" Cassandra Berry, who later married her cousin, Edward J. White, former Confederate officer.
