Obituary

Died in this city on Wednesday the 18th inst., Mr. George W. Cook of Newbern 
in the 23d year of his age. This young gentleman was a graduate of Princeton 
College where he ranked among the first at the institution. With a genius 
formed in the finest mould, with a heart replete with all the amiable 
qualities incident to your nature, he was eminently distinguished. Whilst the 
years of maturity were enfolding to the world the faculties of a great mine, 
insatiate death cut short the thread of life. In the decease of Mr. Cook, our 
state has to regret the loss of one of its most promising young men; his 
parents, a dutiful and affectionate son, and his friends and acquaintances a 
sincere friend and worthy companion.
