Hill of Vanceboro succumbed to an attack of epilepsy Sunday. She is survived by two sons and one daughter. The deceased was a sister of Mrs. S. R. Ball of this city. Additional Comments: Mary Emily (Lancaster) Hill was the daughter of St. Clair Lancaster and Mary Ann (Free) Lancaster of Craven County. She was born on 24 August 1833 and died 27 December 1914. In 1865, she married John Leonard Hill and they resided in the Swift Creek Township, near Vanceboro, NC. According to family history, Mary fell on Christmas Day, 1914 and broke her hip. She died 2 days later. The two sons and one daughter mentioned in the obituary was Stephen Franklin Hill (my grandfather), John St. Clair Hill (whom they called Sink), and Cora Lee Hill. Her sister mentioned was Sarah "Sally" Jane Lancaster Ball who had married Samuel Rand Ball. Mary was preceded in death by another daughter, Mary Ann Armecie Hill who died at the age of sixteen years old on 23 July 1886. Her husband John Leonard Hill also died later that year on 15 October 1886. Steven J.
