Funeral of Jos. L. Rhem

The last sad rites were paid to all that was mortal of the Late Joesph L. Rhem 
yesterday afternoon. The funeral services were first held at the family 
residence, Rev. Hight C. Moore officiating, the house being filled with friends, 
many being unable to gain admittance.

From the residence to Cedar Grove Cemetery the remains were followed by a large 
number of mourning and sympathizing friends. At the grve the services were 
conduected by St. John's Lodge, Charles C. Clark, Esq., reading most impressively 
the burial service of the Order.

The Royal Arcanum, of which Mr. Rhem had been a member, also attended the remains 
from the residence to the grave. 

A large number of colored people who had been in Mr. Rhem's employ followed to 
the cemetery, carrying flowers which were placed on the grave.
