DIED, in Raleigh, of an inflammation of the brain, MARIA SCOTT, aged five 
years, only daughter of DR. SCOTT of Newbern. This interesting little girl had 
been brought from Newbern early in the summer in the hope that exercise and a 
change of air might improved her delicate health. These hopes, however, were 
disappointed by the approach of a disease which baffled medical skill and cut 
off its tender victim from the affections of her parents and friends.
