April 5 Married, on Wednesday, in the King's Chapel, by the Rev. Dr. Freeman, the Honorable Jonathan Russel, late minister to Sweden, to Miss Lydia Smith, only daughter of Barney Smith Esq. of this town. It having been mentioned in numerous circles that this marriage would be solemnized in public, the Chapel, on Wednesday, was crowded to such excess that great exertions were necessary to prevent injury to many of the audience; and the Bride and Bridegroom found difficulty in making their way to the altar; and some of the attendants were unable, from the pressure, to witness the ceremony. The Bridegroom wore a nuptial favor on his breast; a white rose, with an appendage of ribbon of the same color - and the coachmen and carriages (four in number) were suitably ornamented. On the return of the married couple to their carriage, they were saluted with three cheers from the populace, which Mr. R. politely returned with a bow.
