#6291 – WILL OF ROGER BRATCHER

Craven County, NC – Will found in NC Supreme Court Case #6291 – see Supreme 
Court Case files for the actual case

In the Name of God amen I Roger Bratcher of the County of Craven and State of 
North Carolina being sick and weak of Body though of sound Mind Memory and 
understanding and calling to mind the unsertainty of this life do make Publish 
and Declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that 
is to say I will that my Just Debts and Funeral charges be paid by my 
Executors To wit = I give and Bequeath to my Eldest son Daniel three hundred 
achors of Land lying and being on the Percosin and the Red Oak ridge and in 
case he Dyes without heirs lawfully begotten of his body to fall to my 
daughter Charlotty

To wit – I Give and bequeath to my youngest Son Baze the plantation whear on I 
now live together with the lands and tenements their unto belonging but in 
case he Dyes without heirs lawfully begotten of his body to fall to my 
Daughter Charlotty – all the remainder of my Estate Rearl and Personal to be 
sold at the disgression of my faithful brother Tomas Bratcher

Lastly I do nominate and ordain my well beloved brother Thomas Bratcher hole 
and sole Executor to this my last Will and Testament in witness whenof I have 
set my hand and seal this 28th of June 1784.

In 1850 the will was certified as a true copy, proven by Henry Sikes and 
Thomas Bratcher qualified as Executor. The will went to Court September Term 
1784
