CARRAWAY, Thomas		1769

Sick and weak in body but perfect in mind and memory

Son John CARRAWAY: 50 ac on Smith Cr, being the land he now lives on for his 
life, then to his son Thomas and his heirs forever. 

Son Nathaniel CARRAWAY: 75 ac of land being the land he now lives on and divided 
by a line between him and his bro John to him and his heirs forever

Son Richard CARRAWAY: Land I now live on (described; house and half of the home 
property) after the death of his mother; if he dies without issue, the land to 
fall to my son William CARRAWAY and his heirs forever.

Son William CARRAWAY: Other half of home property, borders Powell’s Cr including 
Whitaker Island; if he dies without issue, the land to fall to my son Richard and 
his heirs forever.

Son John CARRAWAY: Negro boy Charles. Also to John after death of his mother 
Negro woman Grace. 

Son Richard CARRAWAY: Negro man Ben and Negro woman Assa to maintain him and his 
mother during her life, and her decease to Richard and his heirs forever.

Son Thomas CARRAWAY: Negro boy Isaac to him and his heirs forever

Son Nathaniel CARRAWAY: Negro boy Simon to him and his heirs forever

Son William CARRAWAY: Negro boy Abram to him and his heirs forever

Daughter Amy COLLINS: 3 shillings proclamation money and the negroes that she has 
now in her possession to her and her heirs forever

Daughter Mary SAUNDERS: 3 shillings and Negroes she has in her possession

Daughter Dinah SQUIRES: Negro girl Tamer to her and her heirs forever, and if she 
should die and leave none of her children alive at her death, then Tamer and her 
increase to fall to sons then alive, equally divided. 

Daughter Elisabeth BROOKS: Negro girl Easther, with same provision about heirs as 
Dinah

Grandson Edward CARRAWAY: 50 ac of land on ES of head of Trent Cr Swamp to him 
and his heirs forever

Grandson John CARRAWAY: 50 ac on WS of head of  to him and his heirs forever

Horse plows, hoes and axes to use of wife Mary CARRAWAY and sons Richard and 
William. Same with cattle and hoggs

Sons John and Thomas CARRAWAY: 3 head of sheep

Wife Mary CARRAWAY: Remainder of sheep for her life, then divided between sons 
Richard & William CARRAWAY

Son Richard: Large square table and dovetail chest after death of his mother

Son William: Large chest after death of his mother

Remainder of furniture to wife Mary, and at her death, equally divided among sons 
Richard, Nathaniel, and William CARRAWAY.
