Craven County, NC - Will of John Depitt, 1724 ~~~~~~~~~~ County 028, Date Recorded 1724 SS 876/4, Copy Original SS/AR North Carolina John Depitt Will 1723/24 p. 1002 In the name of God Amen the 17th day of January 1723/24 I John Depitt of the County of Bath Planter being very Sick and Weak inn Body but of perfect Mind and Memory Thanks be Given unto God therefore Calling unto mind the Totality of my Body and Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Dye do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say Principally and first of all I Give and Recommend my Soul unto the hands of God that Gave it and my Body I Recommend to the Earth to be Buried in Decent Christian Burial at the Direction of my Executors nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the same again by the might Power of God and as Touching such Wordly Estate where with it hath pleased God to Bless me in this life I Give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form Item I give and bequeath to Penon Depitt my dearly beloved wife the hundred acres of Land witch I Bought of Peter Hand and kept all my flock and all my housses and all my household goods Debts and mouveble Effects and if so be that Penon Depitt my beloved Wife marries my will is that the children shall come in heirs She having her thirds if not having the same during her life time Item I give and Bequeath to my well Loved son Petter Deiptt my plantation in Machapongo County two hundred acres. Item I Give and Bequeath unto my well beloved Son John Depitt that piece of Land that I bought from Cass Brice Containing two hundred acres __________________________ and I likewise constitute and make and ordain for my Executors of this my last will ands Testament my well Beloved wife Penon Depitt and Ann Depitt my well Beloved Dafter and I do hereby utterly Dissallow Revoke and Disannul all and every other former Testament wills Legacies and Bequest and Exects by me in any way before named willes and Bequeaths Ratifing and Confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament In Wittness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year above written.
